Meet Phil

Coach Phil Locario has had a love of tennis most of his life.  His roots came out of the Parks and Recreation Program in Longmeadow, Massachusetts where he learned to play tennis as a young boy.  Later he taught tennis lessons while in high school, and became Director of the Parks and Recreation Program for the town of Longmeadow while in college.  Phil played number 1 position at both Longmeadow High School and St. Michael’s College.  While at St. Michael’s, Phil received the Most Valuable Player Award and the prestigious Roger F. Keleher Award for Outstanding Senior-Studen Athlete.  After graduating from college, he coached high school tennis for a number of years,  During this time he completed his training with the USPTA (United States Professional Teaching Association).  Finally, Phil became owner/pro of Locario’s Tennis Center in West Harwich, Massachusetts in 1995.  Through his love for the game and teaching all levels of tennis most of his life, he developed these tennis tips (rhymes) which became the heart of this book.  (They started on a tee-shirt).  Its purpose is to share his passion for the game, and knowledge of tennis, sport for a lifetime, with you.
